Dress Regulations for Members and Guests at the Club

Appropriate golf sportswear is considered minimum attire in all Club areas. All Members and their guests are expected to dress in appropriate golf attire during use of all Club areas. Members are reminded that they are responsible to ensure that their guests are properly attired while at the Club. Guests should be advised prior to their arrival regarding appropriate attire.

This dress code is a reflection of the dignity, etiquette and high standards expected by all members as they and their guests enjoy our prestigious club. Appropriate golf sportswear is considered minimum attire. Members must ensure that they, their families and guests are dressed presentably both on the golf course and in the Clubhouse.

Male Golf Attire:

Appropriate golf attire for males includes slacks or shorts and shirts with collars and sleeves. Turtle necks or mock turtle necks, as well as rainwear, jackets, hats and other clothing to deal with the elements are also acceptable.

Shirts must be tucked in at all times with the exception of shirts specifically designed not to be tucked in. The minimum length for shorts shall be between the mid-thigh and the kneecap – no more than 3 inches from the top of the knee cap.

Female Golf Attire:

Appropriate golf attire for females includes dresses, slacks, skirts or shorts and blouses or golf shirts. Shirts must have a collar, sleeves, or both. Midriffs are not to be exposed. Turtle necks or mock turtle necks, as well as rainwear, jackets, hats and other clothing to deal with the elements are also acceptable.

The minimum length for tailored dresses, skirts and/or shorts shall be between the mid-thigh and the kneecap – no more than 6 inches above the knee.

Additional Attire:

Hats and visors will be permitted only in the Locker Rooms, and while entering and exiting the Spike Bar and Clubhouse. In all other Clubhouse areas hats and visors are not permitted. The only exception will be hats and visors worn by women in the Spike Bar and fashion hats worn by women as part of an ensemble/outfit.

For the benefit of the membership, the following
attire is considered inappropriate;

Clothing that is frayed, tattered, and/or otherwise in poor or worn-out condition

Jeans and/or Denim items such as skirts, shirts and jackets

Halter tops, tank tops, crew neck T-shirts, or muscle shirts

Sweatpants, track suits, rugger pants, or cut-offs

Clothing bearing large numbers, offensive slogans and/or illustrations.

For children of pre-school age (4 years and under) this dress code policy will not be strictly enforced. However, the Board encourages members to have their children comply at all times.

Soft Spikes

Mayfair has adopted a mandatory soft spike policy. Members are asked to inform their guests of this policy when invitations are extended. Guests’ shoes will be re-spiked if time permits, or a loaner pair will be provided. There is a nominal charge for re-spiking shoes. Shoes will be re-spiked by the attendants in the Men’s Locker Room.

Management & Staff
are empowered to interpret and enforce
the above dress code.
